Last Tuesday, August 29, the Lady Bulldogs varsity volleyball team traveled to Llano for a non-district contest. The Lady Dogs played Llano close in each set, but eventually lost in four sets.
After winning the first set by a score of 25-22, the Lady Bulldogs lost the next three sets by a combined 9 points.
"After losing such close games, we know that we can improve on our communication, serve receive, and hitter coverage," junior Catrina Sampson said. "We didn't play our best, but we know we are capable of much more."
Although the night resulted in a loss, sophomore Dana Lohrke, senior Madelynn Kinsel, and junior Kelly Nelson each led the team with 8 kills. Kinsel added on 1 block, 17 digs, and 1 ace, while Nelson also added 3 digs. Senior Ellen Hevenor and Sampson each added 2 aces for the Lady Dogs, who finished with 31 kills and 6 aces.
"It was definitely not a good
showing of what we're capable of," Hevenor said. "We know exactly
what we need to work on, and we are going to focus on those things before district comes."
