Laurie Neff, representative of the BHS Booster Club has had several business owners ask about companies selling advertising. "The High School Athletic Booster Club sells all advertising and sponsorships directly. We do not use any outside advertising companies," said Neff.
One company called SMG Advertising is apparently selling ads for a schedule poster.
The number is an 817 area code.
"This does not have anything to do with the high school and none of our students or schools benefit from this," said Neff.
Some businesses have reported not receiving anything after they have paid for the service.
If you are contacted by an advertising sales representative, ask if their company is a part of the Bandera High School Athletic Booster Club or if they are connected to the school in any way.
"Ask them who gets the money from the advertising," said Neff.
The Bandera High School Athletic Booster Club is currently selling ads for the football program and team posters with schedules so ask and make sure where you are spending your money.
Call the school central office at 830-796-3313 for an official Booster Club contact person or to verify that the caller is legitimate.
Contact the Booster Club directly to place an ad in the program or on the team poster. That way, when a salesman calls, you can say, "No thank you. I've already donated to that project!"
