The Bandera FFA participated in the State Clays Shooting event held at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio where they placed 4th overall in Mixed Gender Trap Shooting, and 5th overall in Mixed Gender Sporting Clays. The Bandera FFA students shot both as individuals and as teams. They also competed as a mixed gender team.
Bandera FFA individual female contestants in trap were Courtney Kuykendall and Hailey Schmidt.
Schmidt tied for 2nd place in female trap with a score of 95 out of 100.
Courtney Kuykendall tied for 4th place in female trap with a score of 93.
With the combined scores of Austin Carol, Courtney Kuykendall, Hailey Schmidt, and Zack Schmidt, the Mixed Gender Trap Team finished 4th overall.
A gut wrenching three-team shoot off determined 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place.
Male Trap Team contestants were Austin Carol, Justin Klinkseik, and Zack Schmidt.
The second day of the event Bandera FFA shot Sporting Clays. There were two male participants - Austin Carol, and Zack Schmidt, and two female participants - Courtney Kuykendall and Hailey Schmidt. All four of the individual scores were used to make up a Mixed Gender Sporting Clays team.
Courtney Kuykendall won 1st place individual female in sporting clays with a score of 91 out of 100.
Hailey tied for 4th place individual female with a score of 82.
The combined scores placed the team 5th in Sporting Clays as a mixed gender team.
The 2-day shoot was very successful for the Bandera FFA students. They were supported by their advisor, Tessa Gamble, and cheered on by BHS fan,Taylor Schultz. "I am proud to have these kids represent Bandera FFA, they work hard to achieve their goals," Gamble said. Owen (Woody) Woodard coached both boys and girls teams this year.
