Cully Doyle, graduate of Medina High School, has been named Head Coach of the 2011-12 Texas Girls Coaches Association Track All-Star Team for 4- and 5-A schools.
Doyle coaches the Hutto girls team.
One of his runners, Vanessa Evans, was named to the All-State team.
Doyle is a special education teacher and head coach for cross country and girls track at Hutto. He was the UIL Boys Cross Country State Individual Champion in 1996-97 for 1A schools in Texas with a time of 17:00.
According to the Hutto News, Doyle took 10 of his runners to the state meet to help with the competition.
Doyle said he wanted his kids to have the experience of being on the track close to the elite athletes that made it to the state meet. "He hopes that they will want to run at the state meet next year and got to see what it takes to get to that level," the paper said.
Doyle is the son of Kent and Jackie Doyle of Medina.
