FC Thunder places 4th

The FC Thunder Select Team, the high school boys league soccer squad out of Boerne, placed fourth in the South Directors Cup Tournament in Houston May 12-13.

Two Bandera players, Van Heye, goalie, and David Moreno, forward, played key roles on the team.

Spokesman Michelle M. Lee reported, "The boys played very well and could have won it all. We were playing for the championship Sunday morning. I mean we finish 4th by one point and then the team we beat gets second.

"Even better was the looks on the faces of the other team managers and refs when I told them that we only had 1-94 player, 7-95s and 4-96s of which one is still only 15," said Lee. "These boys definitely earned respect as well. Sunday's game was tough especially after giving everything they could on Saturday but it was by no means a blow out."

In the game against Huntsville, the Thunder lost 2-1 in the last minute of play.
