Medina tennis heads to regional

Medina's Brennan Fertig and Austin Thomas won second place at the District 29A Tennis Tournament last week in Kerrville.

They will be advancing to the regional tournament in College Station on April 18-19.

The Bobcat pair claimed a "playback" victory over Mason's Ruffin and Velez, 6-4, 6-4 to seal the regional trip.

Earlier, Fertig/Thomas defeated Garcia/Lopez (D'hanis) 6-2, 7-5.

In the semifinals, they lost to Duarte/Willis (Mason) 6-1, 6-4.

In a battle for 3rd place, Fertig/Thomas defeated Aguilar/DelaTorre (Sabinal) 4-6, 7-6, 6-3.

Kristin Boyd and Abby Seymour won third place in girls' doubles by defeating Juarez/Navarro (Sabinal)6-7, 7-6, 6-4.

Teejay Moore placed fourth in boys' singles, while Hunter Hughes and Aaron Lestourgeon won consolation honors in boys doubles.

In JV action, Paula Diosdado won second place in girls' singles.
