A wonderful festival

I’m writing from Alaska to thank the citizens and businesses of Bandera for a marvelous Labor Day!

My husband and I are residents of a small town in Alaska that puts on a big event on Fourth of July. Though Alaska may be twice the size of Texas – couldn’t resist mentioning that – and our town several times larger than Bandera, we can’t come close to what your community did for Labor Day. You put on a terrific, historical, perfectly planned and executed party for everyone.

The craft vendors were first class, your rodeo an absolute blast – who’s going to grouse about a little needed rain? – and everyone knew their jobs and did them well.

It must take a tremendous effort from so many people to put a parade together with over 100 participants – each one fun and unique. Everyone was generous and relaxed – at least to us tourists. There may have been frantic efforts behind the scenes but we saw only a “herd” under perfect control.

Thanks to everyone who baked a pie, polished a vintage car or shared their skills on horseback. You made a small town seem like a crew of thousands of event professionals. Best of all was the genuine heritage preserved by it all.

Best wishes – we’ll be back soon and will send friends!
