Think before running
Facts, truth, innuendoes, whispers, lies - can you believe how times have changed?
Who can we trust? Who do we elect?
When we elect or appoint these people are they really honest? Do they really care about our county, our city, our citizens? Do they get into these positions by lying to us and then they have their own agendas and buddies?
Although a small, small town and county, we have as much corruption as Washington, DC.
When you run for an office, do you not know what the pay or compensation is? Everyone wants more money - even the people who elect you. We have to tighten our belts so you - county employees and elected officials - put on your big boy pants and suck it up for a year! Okay? Some of us are on social security or other retirement and we don't get COLAs and other perks.
City, you need to get your act together. We have had "unbelievable" leadership for the last 16 years.
Look where we are now. It is disgusting. Administration-wise the city has grown. We now have a city secretary, utilities clerk, assistant to the secretary, an administrator, public works director and a city treasurer. We now (finally) have a city marshal and soon a new officer.
Hopefully things will get right soon.
Thanks to the sheriff's office, we have had city coverage.
Our council meetings have had to have a lawyer present at almost every meeting and hopefully this will change. While this is very costly, I guess it would be more costly if council makes questionable decisions.
Before you run out and sign up to run for mayor or city council or commissioner, take a look at yourself and decide what makes you the better candidate. Have you attended meeting of council meetings or commissioners court? Have you been involved? Do you know the issues or are you just listening to gossip?
Can you work with others to make decisions on important matters for county and city or do you think you should have complete control?
If so, we don't need you. Thanks anyway. We have had that scenario already.
By the way, this is my opinion and you are certainly welcome to yours just don't make it personal as I am not targeting any one person.
