Donald Bert LeStourgeon

1937-2009

Donald Bert LeStourgeon was born on Oct. 25, 1937, and went to be with his Lord and “Best Friend” on Sunday, Nov. 15.

He was born in Medina in a little house on the river behind the Methodist Church of which he was a member.

While attending Medina High School, Don excelled at football, basketball and baseball. He was drafted by the Cleveland Indians and still holds the longest completed pass record in American football history – 90 yards from goal line to goal line.

Don was also known by all for his “World Famous Bloody Bull Mix” – and for the love he felt for his family, friends and the Texas Hill Country.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; son Kevin and his wife, Colette; son Tal; brother Bruce and his wife, Pat; step-sons, Duane and his wife, Ann; and Hart and his wife, Charla; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many, many friends.

Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera, officiated by Pastor Bill Stegemueller and Brother James Ennis.

Memorials may be made to Medina United Methodist Church, PO Box 208 Medina or the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.

Condolences may be sent to the family by selecting the “Send Condolences” link at www.grimesfuneralchapels.com.

Arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera.
