Jose F. Rios

1919-2009

Jose F. Rios, age 90, of Bandera, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, at Riverhill Nursing Home in Kerrville.

He was born April 18, 1919, in Fredericksburg to Jose and Juanita Flores Rios.

Although a man of all trades, Jose favored ranching and farming. He was also a member of the Catholic Church.
His survivors include four sons, Frank Rios and his wife, Lupe, of San Antonio; Ignacio Rios and his wife, Olivia, of San Antonio; Joe Rios and his wife, Beatrice, of San Antonio; and Andy Rios and his wife, Susie, of Helotes; nine daughters, Gloria Oranday and her husband, Pete, of Bandera; Irene Garza and her husband, Juan, of LaVernia; Hope Young and her husband, Joe, of Marion; Lucy Lackey of Center Point; Beatrice Callaway and her husband, Alan, of Bandera; Diana Mendoza and her husband, Carlos, of Lakehills; Rose Rios Fuselier and her husband, Randy, of Pleasanton; Mary Diaz and her husband, Eloy, of San Antonio; and

Linda Leda and her husband, Clifton, of Kerrville; and five sisters and one brother, four from San Antonio and two from Michigan, as well as 44 grandchildren and 84 great-grandchildren.

Jose was preceded in death by his wife, Isabell; four brothers, a sister, two granddaughters and two grandsons.

Rosary was recited on Monday, Nov. 2, at Grimes Funeral Chapels and the Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Nov. 3, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Father Oleksy officiant. Interment followed in Bandera Cemetery.

Pallbearers were granddaughters, Isabell Tejeda, Gracie Oranday, Crystal Brown, Liza Parks, Corina Grove, Petra Ramos and Amanda Diaz; and grandsons, Ruben Garza, Christopher Rios, Mark Rios, Raymond Rios, George Rios, Jesse Fuselier, Joseph Valdez and Adam Diaz.

Honorary Pallbearers were Oscar Garcia, Emilo Perez and Arnold Cardell.
