Theodore Vivion Mumme


Theodore Vivion "Ted" Mumme, 85, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, in San Antonio. Ted was born on Jan. 7, 1926, in Sandia to Nona Park and WF Mumme.

Ted grew up in Premont. After serving in the military and graduating from Texas A&I College in Kingsville, Ted married Velma Lee Shults. He began a lifelong career with Kaffe Lumber Company (nka Magcobar).

The family lived in Port Lavaca for 25 years where Ted was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Lions Club. He also served on the Port Commission.

After retirement, Ted and Velma settled in Utopia, where he enjoyed gardening, fishing and traveling. In addition, he served on the Utopia Water Board and the Uvalde County Tax Review Board.

Ted is survived by son Randy; daughters, Kay Lynn and Peggy Lou; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, William Mumme, and sister Nona Canales.

Ted will be greatly missed.
