William Leo "Ace" Wilkerson Jr.


Retired Chief Petty Officer William Leo "Ace" Wilkerson Jr., 59, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 23, in Kerrville.
He was born on Oct. 31, 1951, in Ingram, to the late William Leo Wilkerson Sr., and Evelyn Sutton.
A long time resident of Bandera County, William served his country in United States Navy for 18 years before his honorable medical retirement with multiple honors.
He was a beloved son, brother, father and grandfather.
William is survived by his daughters, Michelle Garcia of Beeville, and Tara Elliott and her husband, Dane, of Pawnee; sisters, Cleo Silva and her husband, Roel, of Midlothian; Billie Leona Lutz and her husband, Randy, of Abilene; Talitha Ann Foster of Winters; Lisa Kremske and her husband, Paul, of Bandera; and Joan Kalka, also of Bandera; brothers, Andy Wilkerson and his wife, Helen, of Bandera; John H. Wilkerson and his wife, Betty, of Winters; Parry Daniel Wilkerson and his wife, Tammy, of Merchel; and Carl Lynn Wilkerson and his wife, Jeanna, of Bandera; grandchildren, Audrey Kay Garcia and Kaleb Thomas Elliott; stepfather Jerry Kalka of Bandera; stepmother Juanita Baker of Winters; and caregivers, Angelina Barbosa and Angelica Fuentes, as well as numerous cousins and other relatives.
William was preceded in death by his brother,Terry Noal Wilkerson.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera, with Deacon Robert Stein officiating. Interment followed at the New Catholic Cemetery in Bandera with full naval honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in William's name to the Disabled Veterans of America.
