Alvina "Mary Lou" Haby


Alvina "Mary Lou" Haby, 83, passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, at her home in Lakehills.
She was born on June 16, 1927, in Guadalupe County to the late Arthur William and Elenora Wesch Lich.
Mrs. Haby worked as a cafeteria manager for Northside Independent School District. She was also a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include daughters, Danielle Martinez of Helotes and Alice Rettko of Lakehills; sisters, Georgia Lich of Converse; Laura Housechild of Atchisson, Kansas; Ruby Tschirhart of Lakehills; and Laina Bernthatz of San Antonio; brothers, Earl Lich of Virginia and Pete Lich of Lakehills; and grandchildren, Erica Martinez Kinsey and her husband, William; Kaitlyn Martinez; Kenny Rettko III; and Howard Haby III and his wife, Amy.
Mrs. Haby was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Rudolph Haby Sr.; son Howard Haby, Jr.; sons-in-law, Jerry Martinez and Kenneth Rettko; and sister Betty Boehme.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, Jan. 29, at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera with Pastor Clifton Stringer officiating. Interment will follow at Pipe Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Haby's wishes were that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in her name to the Lakehills United Methodist Church.
