Warren Hyde


Warren Hyde, 79, of Bandera, passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, in a San Antonio hospital.
He was born on Sept. 4, 1931, in Kerr County, to Leonard and Frances Secrest Hyde.
On Dec. 11, 1966, Warren married Mary Elizabeth Ferguson in Seguin.
Warren served as Precinct 1 Bandera County Constable for over 25 years. Additionally, he owned and operated The Chopping Block in Bandera until the flood of 1978.
A lifelong rancher who raised goats, Warren started the artificial insemination of cattle in Bandera County. He was also a member of The Wolf Club and was currently employed with Richard Wambold and Josh Blanchard at Deer Mountain Ranch in Bandera County.
Warren was loved and will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Hyde, of Bandera; daughters, Doris Nell Wilson and Lana Gillespie, both of San Antonio; step-daughter Shirleen Appelt and her husband, Mike, of New Braunfels; stepsons, John Schaeffer and his wife, Kathy, of Gainesville, Missouri, and Sherwin Schaeffer of West Plains, Missouri; adopted son Michael Moore; brother Bruce Hyde and his wife, Cherry, of Austin; adopted brother Jesse Cardenas of Bandera; grandchildren, Sandi, Howard "Bubba," Jennie, Kayla, Jake, Nikkie, Jennifer, Cody and Justin; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm, Friday, Jan. 21, at Bandera Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial account has been set up at Bandera Bank to help defray expenses.
