Allen Ray Redus, 76, went to be with the Lord Friday, Dec. 17.
He was born Dec. 14, 1934, at the home of his parents in Devine - the 14th and last child of Clem and Hazel Redus.
After graduating from Devine High School in 1952, Allen served in the United States Army and was stationed in Beckley, West Virginia, for three years.
A member of the First Baptist Church of Bandera for 21 years, he served as an usher for a decade. Allen also drove the church bus for seven years.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sonja Lou Redus, of Bandera; daughters, Vicki Redus Martinez and her husband, Lupe, of Floresville; Wendy Redus Holdman and her husband, Michael, of Lubbock; and Terry Edwards of Bandera; sons, Randall Allen Redus and his wife, Karen, of San Antonio; Kevin Redus and his wife, Michele, of Poteet; and Curtis Harberson of Bandera; brothers, George M. Redus and his wife Kay, of Devine, and Clifford Redus and his wife, Lorene, of Bastrop; sister Mildred Brooks of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who were all dear to his heart - as were all children he met.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 22, at First Baptist Church of Bandera with Brother Dave Collett officiating. Burial followed at Bandera Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chuck Newell, Cory Simmons, Lupe Martinez, George Redus Jr., Jerry Simpson and Keith Redus.
