Dorothy “Dot” McCracken

1928-2008

Dorothy “Dot” McCracken, age 80 of Lakehills, passed away Friday, May 30, in a San Antonio hospital.

She was born January 9, 1928, in Denver, Colorado. On Sept. 12, 1946, she married Jake Lyle McCracken in Denver.

A well-known paramedic, Dot served Bandera County for 26 years. She also served on the Bandera County EMS Board of Directors for many years.

Dot is survived by her husband, Jake McCracken, of Lakehills; sons, Jim McCracken of San Antonio and Gary McCracken and his wife, Connie, of Lakehills; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son John Leroy McCracken, a sister and two brothers.

The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm, Wednesday, June 4, at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera. Funeral services will be held at 10 am at the funeral chapel Thursday, June 5. Interment will follow at Pipe Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Mrs. McCracken’s name to the Bandera County EMS.
