Lillian Christine Newkirk


Lillian Christine Newkirk, 92, entered the gates of Heaven on July 16, at The Bandera Rehabilitation Center in Bandera, Texas. She was born in Savanna, Tennessee on January 19, 1925 to William Arthur Kelly and Lilly Mae Burnet. She had three sisters and two brothers who have all passed.
On October 4, 1941 Lillian married Charles James Newkirk. They retired to Bandera in 1985.
Lillian was a devout Christian and was a member of the First Baptist Church at Pipe Creek for many years. She recently attended the First Baptist Church in Bandera.She loved to cook and entertain in her home and she often shared her food with neighbors and family. She was especially known for making chicken and dumplings. Lillian also enjoyed going with her daughter in law Patty to garage sales in Bandera and looking for antiques.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Charles James Newkirk, and grandson Monty Page Montgomery.
Lillian is survived by her four children; Charles Donald Newkirk and wife Patty of Bandera, Jeanne Beth Montgomery and husband Stephen of Bandera, Kelly Rae Morgan and husband Jerry of Blanco and Richard Keith Newkirk and wife Becky of Spring Branch. She is also survived by eight grandsons, nine great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held July 19 by Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera. Burial was at Pipe Creek Cemetery.

Bandera Rehabilitation and Healthcare for making Mom feel like she was home. Everyone there contributed to her comfort including the ladies who cleaned her room, the aides who waited on her daily, the Nurses who took care of her, and the rest of the staff. You made her feel contented and loved and for that we will be forever grateful.
Pastor Doug Johnson and wife Rebecca for pastoring her so many years and loving her as well. Thank you for the hospitality extended by you and the church for our family after the burial. Your comforting words and recollections will stay with us for years.
