Nancy Coyne-Grell

Nancy Coyne-Grell of Pipe Creek went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 24, 2017, at the age of 72.
She was born Dec. 22, 1944, in Maine, to Thomas and Aino Coyne, and then moved to Connecticut where she married Richard L. Rolfe Sr and raised 4 children in East Lyme. She then made her move to Texas in 1988 where she re-married. She was retired from Chief Deputy at the Bandera County Tax office.
Nancy loved to travel, shop and eat her lobsters, clams and scallops, but most of all she enjoyed being with family and friends. She was so caring, humble, sassy and encouraging. She loved God and everyone who knew her was touched by her love. She never gave up, even after surviving a head-on car crash in November 2004 and losing both legs. She was an inspiration to us all. She will be deeply and truly missed.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Grell; her mother, Aino Coyne; her sister, Gloria Grell; and her brother, Peter Coyne.
She is survived by her father, Thomas J. Coyne Sr., age 96, of Pipe Creek, Texas; her brothers, Thomas J Coyne Jr of Oregon, Carl and Timothy Coyne of Pipe Creek, Barry Coyne of San Antonio, and her sister, Brenda Deremer of San Antonio; children, daughter, Eilleen and husband, Karl; grandchildren, Heather, Charles and Andrew Weinsteiger of Lebanon, Connecticut; son, Richard and wife, Sara, grandchildren, Kayla and Logan Rolfe of Niantic, Connecticut; daughter, Heidi and husband, Ashley Teets, grandchildren Scarlett, Skyler, Morgan Brown of Pipe Creek, Texas, and Michael and Catherine Teets of San Diego, California; Joy and husband, Kelly Kretzer, grandchildren Macey Gratteau, KJ and Katie Kretzer of Pipe Creek, Texas; and her “adopted” daughters, Sheila Haver and Vicky Leal and grandchildren, Aidan and Kirsten Leal of San Antonio.
Nancy was an avid animal lover, therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to A Doggie 4 You at 1931 Bump Gate Road, Pipe Creek, TX 78063, or through a payment link on
Her memorial service will take place at 4 pm, Friday, Aug. 4, at the America Legion at 147 W. 26th St in Lakehills, Texas. The memorial will be followed with food and drinks and a celebration of her life. Nancy had a special request that everyone wear her favorite color: blue.
