David Lee Cox


David Lee Cox, 80, of Whartons Dock, passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, in Bandera. He was born in Merced, CA on Aug. 31, 1936 to Leeroy and Buelah Cox.
In 1959, he was married to Shirley Kay O'Brien. Two months later, he joined the US Army and served two years at Fort Hood. His first son, David, was born at Fort Hood in 1961. After being honorably discharged from the army, he moved back to the West Coast where he ran several businesses and started a family before receiving a degree and following a career in chiropractic medicine.
David retired to Bandera in 2000. He loved gardening, reading his Bible and going to church. He loved life, telling stories and especially loved his Lord and family.
David is survived by his brother, Richard Cox; his sisters, Carol Cox and Nancy Cox; the mother of his children, Shirley Kuiper; his sons; David W. Cox and Robert Cox of Bandera; daughters, Elizabeth Scott of Pleasanton, Marce Hilzey, Julie Cox as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
David was predeceased by his mother, Buela Free of Klamath Falls, OR.
