Kenneth R. Miner


Kenneth R. Miner, 78, passed away Sunday, May 1, at his home in Bandera.
He was born in Newark, Ohio, on Sept. 22, 1937, to Carl Eugene and Ethel Mae Miner. Ken married Bette Lindsley on April 2, 1956, in Northwood, Iowa.
A veteran of the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the National Defense Service medal, two Silver Stars and 10 Bronze Stars. Ken was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars since 1993, and the Disabled American Veterans since 1998.
He is survived by his wife, Bette; son Kevin and his wife, Angel, and daughter Kim and her fiancé, Lewis, all of Kansas; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue Headley of Florida and Sandy Rees of Ohio; and brother, Mike Miner of Ohio.
Ken will also be greatly missed by his dear friends, Dana Simmons, Diane Clark and Tina Kopecki.
Ken was predeceased by his parents and a sister.
Funeral services will be held at a later date at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.
Memorials in Ken’s name may be given to Gentiva Hospice, Audie Murphy VA Hospital or Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Department.
