Edward Dale Rix


Edward Dale Rix, 80, of Bandera, passed away Monday, Jan. 5, in Kerrville.
He was born on July 20, 1934, in Pettus to Richard Wallace Rix and Mary Ann Miller Rix.
Dale married Audrey Starr on Nov. 23, 1956, in Edinburg.
Throughout his life, Dale's many jobs included shucking oysters and working on a shrimp boat, serving in the United States Marine Corps, working briefly as a police officer and working much longer in the oilfield.
In 1991, he retired from Otis Engineering as a superintendent of special services. While working for Otis, Dale and his family traveled and lived in many places, including Singapore, Australia, France, Nigeria, Iran and Alaska, among others. After his retirement, he and Audrey made their home in Bandera.
During his full life, Dale enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, golfing and visiting with his friends at the local establishments.
He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Audrey Fae Starr Rix; children, Carolyn Williamson Butcher; AW "Wayne" Williamson and his wife, Kathryn; Richard Rix and his wife, Carletta; and Randy Rix and his wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Christie, Victoria, Heather, Cody, Veronica, Corey, Barry, Dusty, Kami, Andy, Josh, Stephen, Matthew, Michael and Jacob; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and "adopted" sons, Nick Murley and Robert Reeder.
Dale was predeceased by his parents; siblings, Alverta Anderson, Bernice Tullos, Eris Morris, Henry Rix and Mary Rix; and step-son William "Sonny" Allen Williamson.
A celebration of Dale's life was held Friday, Jan. 9, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera.
