Wilvie DeWayne Smith


Wilvie DeWayne Smith, 93, of Bandera, passed away Thursday, Dec. 25. He was born in Sonora on August 19, 1921, to Johnnie and Daisy Smith.
Wilvie was married to Rosalynd "Sug" Smith.
While living in Bandera, he owned the Western Auto store and served numerous terms as mayor of the city of Bandera. A veteran of World War II, Wilvie was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his son, DeWayne Smith, and his wife, Rosielee, of San Antonio; daughter Sherry Delayne Smith Newsome and her husband, Edwin, of Austin; grandson Dewayne Smith III of San Antonio; and great-grandsons, Jesse James Smith and Gage Anthony Smith of San Antonio. Wilvie is also survived by his close companion and dear friend, Rose Holtzman - to whom the Smith family extends their sincerest thanks.
He was predeceased by his parents, wife Rosalynd "Sug" and brother Waylon Smith.
Wilvie's family will have a celebration of his life at a later date.
