Fatima Ibrahim, 85, of Medina, passed away Wednesday, May 14, in Bandera. She was born June 6, 1928 in Erwin, North Carolina to John Ferguson and Bessie Covington Ferguson.
Fatima married Abdullatif Ibrahim in New York.
She attended school in Erwin, North Carolina, and graduated from Meger Erwins with a BS in nursing and later from Long Island University in Brooklyn with an MA in nursing. Fatima served as a registered nurse for the City of New York for 40 years.
She was also a long-standing member of the Islamic community in Brooklyn, New York and participated in the Professional Development at Cumberland Hospital there.
Fatima is survived by her children, Eronifah Ibrahim, Ayesha H. Ibraheem Abdul-Rajik and Maltuf Ismiel Ibrahim and his wife, Erika; brother John Artis Ferguson; sister Aida Ferguson; grandchildren, Muhir Suliman, Muktarrif and Mattalib J. Ibrahim; and great-grandchildren, Trace Ibrahim, Charles Jaden Ray Abdul-Rajik, and Havannah Brun.
Fatima was predeceased by her husband, parents, four sisters, a brother, son-in-law and granddaughter.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Gutierrez, Dr. Jaafar, Cedar Creek Nursing Home and Odyssey Hospice.
A celebration of Fatima Ibrahim's life will be held at 2 pm, Friday, May 23, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera.
