Richard Frank Himebrook

Richard Frank Himebrook, 70, of Bandera passed away April 5 in Kerrville. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, on July 16, 1943, to Frank and Helen Himebrook. He married Roberta Harkey on Sept. 7, 1968, at Laredo AFB.
Ric was a Christian since his youth.
He graduated from UNM in 1965 and Texas A&M in 1974 with a masters degree. He served 21 years as an Air Force meteorologist, retiring as a major. He was a unit commander twice.
Ric then served 12 years as an Army meteorologist.
His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal.
He was active in the Civil Air Patrol, serving as Squadron Commander, 1988-1990, and New Mexico Wing Commander, 2007-2011. He was selected as the 2014 Southwest Region (6-states) Senior Member of the Year for outstanding lifetime service.
Ric and Roberta moved to Bandera in 2011 and became active in the Bandera United Methodist Church.
Ric was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Virginia. He is survived by his wife, son Leslie, daughter-in-law Andrea, and grandsons Andrew and John Himebrook.
Visitation will be 9-10 am on Monday, April 14, at Bandera United Methodist Church in Bandera. Funeral services will follow at 10 am. Burial will be 2 pm the same day at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
