Gretchen Murphy, 63, loving wife, companion and mother, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, in Pipe Creek. She was born Sept. 22, 1950 in Huntington Park, California.
Gretchen married Robert Murphy on Dec. 22, 1972 in South Gate, California.
After graduating from Huntington Park High School, she attended East Los Angeles Junior College until her marriage.
Gretchen then joined her husband at Technical School at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, and then accompanied him to his first duty assignment at San Vito De Normanni Air Station in Italy.
After their tour in Italy ended, the couple returned to the United States, settling in San Antonio where they resided until Robert retired from active duty. The couple moved to Pipe Creek in 2004.
Gretchen is survived by her husband of 41 years, Robert; children, Jonathon, Sean and Jeremy; and sisters, Cindi Bagdanove and Melinda Burwell; and brother Clifford Lotz, as well as by six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gretchen was predeceased by her parents, Wilbert H., and Melba C. Lotz, who were both veterans of World War II.
Visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm, Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera.
Funeral services will be held at 11:15 am, Thursday, Feb. 13, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
