Alicia Valadez 'Licha' Fleming


Alicia Valadez 'Licha' Fleming, 87, of Kerrville and formerly of Bandera, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, in Kerrville. She was born Feb. 22, 1926 in San Antonio to Antonio and Maria de Jesus Garcia Valadez.
In 1961, she married Harry 'Doc' Fleming Jr.
Mrs. Fleming was the first in her family to receive a Bachelor's degree and later her Master's degree. A teacher for over 25 years, she taught at Medina Valley Independent School District for 20 of those years. After retirement, she continued to give back by teaching amnesty classes and ESL classes in Bandera.
She was a Catholic. Mrs. Fleming enjoyed hunting, riding horses and cooking. Her family was her number one priority. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh.
Survivors include daughters, Christine Sellers and her husband, Wade, of Kerrville; Kelli Marci Fleming of San Antonio; and Rhonda Camille Fleming and Sandy Gieseler, both of Wimberley; sons, Harry Fleming III and his wife, Dianne, of Kerrville, and Jon Anthony Rodriguez of New York; sister Olivia Canales of San Antonio; grandchildren, Haley, Davin, Meredith, Justin and Lindsay; and a great-grandchild, Julian.
Mrs. Fleming was predeceased by her husband, Harry "Doc" Fleming Jr.; sister Tina Garcia; and brother Robert Valadez.
Services were held Saturday, Feb. 1, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bandera. Interment followed in the Bandera Cemetery.
