Oneida M. 'Neda' Gallant


Oneida M. 'Neda' Gallant, 91, of Medina, died Friday, Jan. 17, at her residence. She was born on Oct. 23, 1922 in Hunt to Beal D. Taylor and Martha T. Weir Taylor.

A housewife, Neda was very thankful to have grown up in the Hill Country. She loved get-togethers; traveling and RVing; feeding birds; doing crossword puzzles and crafts; sewing; Gaither gospel music; and Spurs basketball. Most of all, however, she loved her grandkids.

Neda was a member of the Bandera Fine Arts Club, Medina Rose Garden Club, Medina United Methodist Church and Medina United Methodist Women.
Survivors include her daughters, Marilyn Watson and her husband, Tony, and Patricia Harvey and her husband, Jim, all of Medina; sister-in-law, Thelma Gallant; grandchildren, Robert Ashley and his wife, Neita; Mike Harvey and his wife, Christina; Brad Harvey and his wife, Tracy; John Watson and his wife, Angela; Kristina Carter and her husband, Brad; Joanna Snyder and her husband, Michael; and Jamie Graham and her husband, Tony; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Ethan, Seth, Sienna, Alex and Sydney Grace, London, Dacey, Jacob and Claire.

Neda was predeceased by her daughter, Carolyn Gallant, and by her husband of 69 years, James A. Gallant.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 20, at Medina United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Stegemueller officiating. Interment followed at Oak Rest Cemetery in Medina.

Pallbearers were Robert Ashley, Mike Harvey, Brad Harvey, Tony Graham, Michael Snyder, John Watson, Austin Thomas and Brad Carter. Honorary pallbearers were RL Walker, Rick Ingram, Dale Naumann, Arlen Williams and Stephen Williams.

Memorials honoring Oneida M. Gallant may be made to the Medina United Methodist Church or to a charity of choice.
