Brady Willis Sides

1915-2014

Brady Willis Sides, 98, of Medina, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, at his residence. He was born on March 21, 1915, in Mason to Fred Jarvis Sides and Georgia Lee Tidwell Sides.

Brady and Jessie Pearl Walker were married in Medina on Feb. 19, 1941, by the late Rev. WH Price.

A farmer and a fence builder, Brady loved to garden and "get the soil in shape." As Ray Barton put it, "Brady just loves to polish a plow." When Brady's eye sight failed, he gave up his tractor and continued with a short-handled hoe until shortly before his passing.

Survivors include daughters, Linda Nell Barton and Nancy Sue Sides; and sons, Jerry Webster Sides and Joe Willis Sides, all of Medina; sister Norma Cole of Helotes; sister-in-law Ruth Walker Goetzel of San Antonio; and grandchildren and their spouses, Lamanda Barton and Cali Redd; Joel, Fred and Jill; LaNek and JR Sides; Chance, Dona and Chase Sides; Teryl and Wayne Andrews; and Esper Causey.

Brady's 14 great-grandchildren include Claire and Steeler Barton; Heaven, Harmony, Hope and Harvest Redd; Brayden Sides, Logan Sides, Damon and Ryan McDonald; Ty, Noah and Avery Andrews; and Brady Clark.

During his life, Brady was blessed with two namesakes, Brady Chance Sides and Brady Walker Causey Clark.

Also left to cherish his memory are numerous nieces and nephews.

Brady was predeceased by his wife, Jessie; parents; brother Durl Bailey Sides; and son-in-law Ray Allen Barton.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera with Dr. Allie Balko officiating. Interment followed at Oak Rest Cemetery in Medina with Joel, Fred, Chance and Chase Sides; Randy MacNaughton; and Ron Barton serving as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers were Loyd Anderson, Nevin Marr, Al Culp, Andy Lautzenheiser, Keith Keese, Jessie Ray Burger and Jessie Faglie.
