Nicolasa F. Martinez
Nicolasa F. Martinez, 82, of Bandera, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, at her home. She was born on Dec. 9, 1930, in Castroville to Marcos and Victoria Fernandez.
She married Marcelino R. Martinez on March 8, 1952, in Hondo.
Nicolasa served as a cook at several local Bandera restaurants and dude ranches, including the Wrangler, Frontier Café, and Flying L, Peaceful Valley and Mayan dude ranches.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
Nicolasa is survived by her daughters, Alma Rasmussen and her husband, Darin, of Bandera; Elsie Brantley and her husband, Michael, of Bandera; and Margie Martinez of Bandera; son, Lupe Martinez and his wife, Terry, of Bandera; sisters, Ricarda Rodriguez of Bandera, and Clara Theis and her husband, Jim, of Omaha, Nebraska; brothers, Tony Fernandez and his wife, Pat, of Bandera, and Pedro "Pete" Fernandez and his wife, Dion, of Pipe Creek; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Nicolasa was predeceased by her husband, Marcelino R. Martinez; parents; son Arturo "Turtle" Martinez; and three brothers.
A funeral mass was held Wednesday, Oct. 23, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Father John Nolan officiating. Burial followed at the Old Catholic Cemetery.
