Edward C. McAlister
Edward C. McAlister, 70, of Medina, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 7, at a hospital in Kerrville. He was born in Woodville to Walter Booth McAlister and Berdell Broom McAlister on Jan. 13, 1943.
Ed married Jane Cook, his high school sweetheart, on Jan. 27, 1962 in Beaumont. The couple was married for 51 years.
Ed's life centered around his family and grandkids. He was a member of the Forest Park Methodist Church in Beaumont, as well as a member of the Methodist Men and the Lions Club in Beaumont.
After serving as an executive in the financial industry for over 30 years, the couple moved to Medina where Ed purchased the Old Timer. For 13 years, he enjoyed visiting with his friends and locals at the popular gathering spot.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane Cook McAlister, of Medina; daughters, Cheryl DuPerier and her husband, Trip, of Medina, and Janie Vescovo and her husband, Patrick, of Austin; son Michael McAlister and his wife, Michelle of Georgetown; sister, LaWilda Chapman of Killeen; brothers, David McAlister of Woodville, and Alton McAlister of Woodville; and grandchildren, TJ DuPerier, Callie DuPerier, Katherine Vescova, Patrick Vescova, Brandon Watson, Christopher Vescova, Lydia DuPerier, Logan Watson and Conor McAlister.
Ed was predeceased by his parents and brother, Glen McAlister.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Thursday, Sept. 12, at First Baptist Church of Medina with Bro. Allie Balko officiating.
