Ramona Preston

1953-2013

Ramona Preston died at her home in Bandera, Sunday, Feb. 3. She was born in Eagle Pass, to Maydelle and Bob Preston, Jr., in 1953.
The family moved to Midland in 1962 and Ramona graduated from Midland High School in 1971.
After pursuing a career in nursing, she became an LVN in the mid-1970s in Del Rio.
At that time, she also fell in love with diving and became certified as a PADI Master Diver. Ramona established Amistad Scuba Divers in 1982. She taught scuba diving and arranged group diving trips to the Caribbean until 1989, when she sold her business and returned to nursing.
Ramona continued her nursing practice in Austin and Aransas Pass, where she relocated in 1999. While living in Rockport, she became a certified massage therapist and established her own practice with a dedicated clientele. Ramona was particularly gifted in this field.
She moved to Bandera in 2007, practicing here until October 2011, when she became ill.
Ramona showed the fruits of the spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, kindness, self-control and faithfulness. She made friends easily and the family would like to thank these special friends who helped Ramona so much in recent months, Sally, Kinleigh, Ardie, Debbie and Brian, Patty, Debby G. and Johnny M.
Ramona will be lovingly remembered by her aunts, Martha Preston of Midland, and Gloria Meissner of Hurst; uncle Morris Herring of Arizona; nieces, Devin Preston of New York City, New York, and Gillian Preston of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; several cousins; and many, many friends.
She was predeceased by her parents and brother Flynt Preston.
