Mary Ann Williams

Mary Ann Williams, 71, went to be with the other angels on Tuesday, March 26. Her parents, Leslie G. Dick and Mary Elizabeth Cassin Dick, were so proud of Mary Ann, they called her "Duchess."

While a teenager, she volunteered as a Candy Striper at Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio. After graduating from Incarnate Word High School, Mary Ann married her first husband and the couple had two children. Later, she married Wes Williams and the couple had a child. Wes preceded her in death several years ago.

Mary Ann worked in the candy shop at Dillard's Department Store until it closed. She then worked at LaMode until she and Wes moved to Bandera in 1978.

Calling Bandera her "slice of heaven," Mary Ann never left. She was employed at Harvey's Pizza Place and later at The Cabaret until her health forced her to resign. She was also a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

A fighter to the end, Mary Ann survived major open heart surgery in her 20s, breast cancer, a brain aneurysm and other illnesses until her body just gave up.

She is survived by her brother, David Dick, and his wife, Benita; children, JC Wennermark and his wife Robbie of San Antonio; Leslie Kocurek and her husband, Louis III "Triple," of Medina; and Shannon Rober and her husband, Stephan of Huntsville; grandchildren, Chrystian and Thadd Martin of San Angelo, Dyana and Bryan Erler of San Antonio, Staff Sgt. Leandro and Ty of Fort Lee, Virginia, Collin Williams of Huntsville; Elizabeth and Ryan Caraballa of Medina, Quincy and Jaclyn Schaefer of Kerrville and Misty Robert of San Antonio. Mary Ann also had 23 great-grandchildren, in addition to many nieces and nephews.

She will be missed by all whose lives she touched in so many ways.
