Mary Ann Batto


Mary Ann Batto, 77, of Bandera, passed away on Monday, Dec. 10, at her residence. She was born on Sept. 5, 1935 in San Antonio to Fred and Corrine Theis Fisher.
After graduating from Incarnate Word High School, Mrs. Batto attended Incarnate Word School of Nursing, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
On October 9, 1957, she married Charles "Sonny" Batto Jr.
After being employed as a nurse in various facilities in San Antonio, Mrs. Batto retired from Normandy Terrace after 21 years in service. She was an active member of St. Stanislaus Church in
Bandera, the Catholic Daughters, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post 157 Auxiliary and Hermann Sons Lodge.
Mrs. Batto loved to travel, and, with her husband, traveled with several "Good Sam" Chapters. She also loved animals, especially feeding the deer.
She is survived by her husband Charles "Sonny" Batto of Bandera; daughter Lydia Benedict and her husband, Jason, of Pipe Creek; son Larry Batto of Bandera; sister Kathy Greco and her husband, Sam, of San Antonio; brother Bill Fisher and his wife, Annette, of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Jessica Benedict, Melinda Benedict, Lauren Benedict, Colleen Batto and Joey Batto; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 am, Thursday, Dec. 13, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bandera with Father Stan Oleksy and Father Rob Ruhnke as co-celebrants. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus New Roman Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Mrs. Batto's name to a charity of choice.
