2012-08-09Ruby Ella Burn
1915-2012

Ruby Ella Burn, 97, of Pipe Creek and formerly of Amarillo, passed away quietly after a brief illness. She was born on March 28, 1915, in Redlands, California, to Lewis Addison Roberts and Ruby Tyrone Messer Roberts.
At a young age, Ruby was given the nickname "Happy Heart" by her father and it has always fit her sweet personality. In 1935, she married Carlyle Henry "Red" Burn, who preceded her in death in 1989.
As long-time residents of Amarillo, Ruby and Red were very active members of their beloved Homebuilders Sunday School Class at Polk Street United Methodist Church.
She was an avid hobbyist who found joy in the little things in life, including oil and tole painting, reading and knitting. In her early years, Ruby loved to dance to Big Band music.
A wonderful mother, Ruby's beautiful blue eyes and smile will be missed by all who knew her.
She would want everyone to know that she lived a wonderful life as an absolute disciple of Jesus Christ, and she is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior, surrounded by the loving family and friends who have gone before her.
Ruby is survived by her daughters, Ruby Miller and her husband, Robert, of Pipe Creek; and Sylvia Coatney and her husband, Royce, of Arlington; sons, Robert Burn and his wife, Donna, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Daniel Burn and his wife, Leigh Ann, of Katy; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents and three sisters.
The family received friends at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera, Sunday, August 5, and funeral services were held Monday, August 6, at Lakehills United Methodist Church in Lakehills.
Interment followed at Pipe Creek Cemetery in Pipe Creek.
Memorials may be made in Ruby's name to Polk Street United Methodist Church, 1401 S. Polk Street, Amarillo 79101; Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, PO Box 1890, Amarillo 79174-0001; or Lakehills United Methodist Church, PO Box 566, Lakehills 78063.
