Santos R. Lopez

1934-2012

Santos R. Lopez, 78, of Bandera, passed away on Monday, July 23, at a local healthcare facility. He was born in Ejido, De Guadalupe, Coahuila, Mexico, to Jacinto and Carlota Lopez on March 30, 1934.

Santos married Vita Reyes on Dec. 21, 1956, in Coahuila, Mexico.

An active member of Guadalupanos, he also played guitar at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church for many years.

Santos was also proficient on the accordion.

He is survived by his daughter, Gracie Cruz and her husband, Juan, of Bandera; daughter-in-law Rosa Lopez of Bandera; grandchildren Tony Lopez Jr. of Bandera, Amber Nicole Lopez of Dallas, Michael Lopez of Bandera, Amy Marie Lopez of Andrews, Brittany Lopez of Bandera, Destiny Lopez of Bandera, Jose Cruz of Bandera; and great-grandchildren Joe Caballero and Sophia Perez of Dallas, as well as by numerous other relatives.

Santos was predeceased by his wife; parents; sons Joe Lopez and Tony Lopez; and by numerous brothers and sisters.

A rosary was held Thursday, July 26, at Grimes Funeral Chapels. A funeral service took place Friday, July 27, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Father Stan Oleksy officiating.

Burial followed at the New Catholic Cemetery in Bandera.

A memorial fund has been set up to help the family with expenses.
