Geraldine Jenieve Homeyer

1933 - 2012

Geraldine Jenieve "Gena" Homeyer went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 24, in San Antonio. She was born Geraldine Jenieve DuBose in Encinal on June 10, 1933.

Gena grew up near Devine, and graduated from Devine High School in May 1950. She married Rex A. Homeyer Jr. on August 10, 1950, and the couple spent almost 62 years together as best friends, who were joined in their faith.

Known best by her many friends as Gena, she was an excellent cook and loved serving others through her work in the church. She was a charter member of Living Tree Baptist Church in Ingram. When she and Rex lived in Devine, Gena actively participated in many aspects of Black Creek Baptist Church.

She received her cosmetology license from Corpus Christi Beauty College and worked as a beautician in Corpus Christi for six years.

Gena was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Rex A. Homeyer Jr. of Ingram; twin sister Jennilee Robinson of Brackettville; daughter Pamela Homeyer and her husband, Ron Smaron, of Boulder, Colorado; son Greg Homeyer and his wife, Cathy, of Montgomery, Texas; and grandchildren Kelly Born and her husband, Rob, of Santa Cruz, California; Tobin Spann of Brooklyn, New York; Justin Homeyer and his wife, Rachel, of Tomball; and Cameron Homeyer and his wife, Jodi, of Longmont, Colorado. Gena also enjoyed her five great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Kennedy, Ellery, Lilah and Adelaide.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, June 2, at the Living Tree Baptist Church, 405 Main Street, in Ingram

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Living Tree Baptist Church Youth Program or building fund. Donations in Gena's name should be sent to GJ Homeyer, 405 Main Street, Ingram 78025.
