Western Trail marker dedication

BCC Staff

Dave Burrell, member of the Bandera County Historical Commission, assisted with the dedication of a historical marker for the Western Trail at Quihi Pass. Fittingly, the dedication took place on The National Day of the American Cowboy, Saturday, July 25, on Highway 173 South towards Hondo. The Junior Rangers, a mounted precision team of the Hill County State National Area, under the direction of Carey Reed, presented the Colors. Additionally, descendants of Polish settler, Jan Dlugosz (John Dugosh) sponsored the Quihi Pass Historical Marker. The 11 Polish families who left Panna Maria, Texas in 1855, traveled through Quihi Pass on their way to Bandera County. The Junior Rangers, of the Hill Country State National Area mounted precision team presented the flags for the occassion.
