BISD board renews Howell's contract

By Carolyn B. Edwards BCC Staff Writer

The Bandera ISD board of trustees voted to extend the contract of Interim Superintendent Regina Howell for another year. The decision followed an executive session during their regular monthly meeting held Monday, Jan. 9.

The executive, or closed, session dealt with Howell's evaluation and consideration of the extension on the contract.

Administrators with the BISD get multi-year contracts. This extension will reach into 2017 for Howell.

The board also asked Howell to post the opening for the superintendency which went into effect this week.

"The job is posted for 10 days," said Howell, "then the board will look over the applications and name the finalists." The request for applications has been posted at the district's main office, on the district's website and on the website of the Texas Association of School Administrators.

Howell said she intends to apply for the job. She has been serving the district as interim superintendent since May of 2011 following the resignation of Kevin Dyes.
