Walters stands for reelection

POLITICAL ANNOUNCEMENT

For almost 10 years now, I, Don Walters, have proudly held the position of Bandera County Precinct 3 Constable. I will run for re-election in the Republican Primary Election in April.

For over 30 years, I have owned property here in Medina, and, with my family, moved here permanently from Houston approximately 15 years ago.

My daughter owns her own business in Phoenix, Arizona, but frequently comes back to the Hill Country. My son, who honorably served in the Marine Corps, resides in San Angelo, where he works on Blackhawk Helicopters. He gave me a beautiful granddaughter who is 13 years old now. Unfortunately, she lives up north, but likes to visit her PaPaw whenever she can. I am glad that part of their upbringing was here in Bandera County.

Living in this area has been very rewarding not only for my family, but also for myself - especially in my position as constable.

In that capacity, I have met and served many fine people in the northwest part of Bandera County. I utilize my experience and training in helping people with their concerns; provide referrals and counsel when needed; and also work with different law agencies and public offices and officials to help resolve issues.

Residents have the added comfort of a local law enforcement presence, and know my responses will be handled in a respectful, dignified and professional manner.

Aside from being on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the duties of a constable in a rural area encompass all aspects of law enforcement.

Since I took office, speeding and traffic accidents have decreased; I vigilantly ensure drivers follow the legal speed limits. I have been involved in everything from finding lost dogs and cattle, apprehending multiple felons, acting as court bailiff, serving Civil Process, securing crime and traffic scenes and working closely with the school district to decrease the presence of illegal influences. I have also had the sad experience of finding lost family members, administering CPR and stabilizing individuals until medical attendants arrive.

I believe that my commitment to this office has been a continued deterrent to criminal activity. The rewards of helping, changing or saving someone's life - in even a minimal way - are why I enjoy my job as constable.

In the future, I will continue to be an integral part of the community. I want to assure the people of Bandera County that if elected to this office again, I will serve the public as I have in the past and will make them proud of their local law enforcement representation.

Your vote for me, Don Walters, as Constable of Precinct 3 will help me to keep my pledge to protect and serve the people of this county.
