Water bills flood state legislature

As of Tuesday, March 22, there were 19 bills regarding water rights under consideration by the 82nd Texas Legislature. Several of those proposed laws deal with the management of groundwater resources in this state and the rights of landowners in groundwater. Those include HB 1730, HB 1731, HB 2398, SB 274, SB 332, SB 667.
One bill, SB 274, sponsored by State Senator Carlos Uresti, relates to the regulation of groundwater conservation districts of certain wells.
HB 3391, sponsored by District 73 Rep. Doug Miller, relates to rainwater harvesting and other water conservation initiatives.
