KENS-5 TV selects Bulldogs as ‘Game of Week’

Special to the Courier

KENS-5 TV has selected Bandera High School as the “Game of the Week” on Friday, Oct. 16, when the Bulldog gridironers face the Devine Warhorses at BHS Bulldog Stadium.

Television personalities from KENS-5 will host a Friday Night Tailgate Party from 4:30 pm until 6:30 pm prior to the 7:30 pm kickoff. Live news segments with KENS-5 Sports Director Joe Reinagel will broadcast from the pre-game party during newscasts at 5 pm and 6 pm.

Students from the BHS Band, choir, Star Steppers and cheerleaders will be featured during the broadcasts. Also, Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Larry Prince will be interviewed during the 6 pm hour.

Additionally, due to the largesse of KENS-5 and sponsors, Mission Foods, Johnsonville Sausage and Frito-Lay, the Bandera Music Boosters will receive all proceeds from pre-sold dinners during the tailgate party. Members of the music boosters will sell a sausage wrap, bag of chips and drink for $5 per plate.
Pre-sale tickets will be available at Bandera High School and the central office of the Bandera Independent School District. The Music Boosters anticipate pre-selling 500 plates.

Funds raised through this promotion will help defray the cost of out-of-district traveling expenses for students participating in band, choir and the Star Steppers.

“This is a great opportunity for Bandera High School to shine on television,” stated BHS Principal Gary Bitzkie. “Everyone will get to see what great kids and school spirit our campus has.”
