Roy T. Goodwin III of Bandera has announced his candidacy for Precinct 3 on the Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District Board of Directors. The General Election will be held Saturday, May 12.

Goodwin moved to the Bandera area in June 1978 - just in time for the flood of the century. His residence on the Medina River has enabled him to monitor its condition over the last 28 years. During the floods in 2002, Goodwin advised officers with the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office about the river’s rises and falls, allowing them to assist county citizens more effectively.

Goodwin has over 14 years experience in the oil and gas industry in the State of Texas, primarily with drilling operations. He has dealt with local, state and federal agencies regarding drilling operations, laws and rights of property owners.

The first manager of the Texas Apple Growers Marketing Cooperative in Medina, Goodwin worked in the Texas apple industry for several years. During that time, he spoke at the Texas Department of Agriculture’s annual marketing conference in Austin. He also served as guest speaker at several statewide TDA conferences.

Goodwin has had over 10 years of banking experience in the United States and Australia on local, state and federal levels, as well as with banking agencies specializing in oil and gas drilling operations. He is also knowledgeable in office management and marketing.

”I became involved in this election because of my concern for abundant and quality water for residents of Bandera County and our future generations,” Goodwin said. “If we fail to act now, water in the future will be in question.”
