Hit and Run victim in critical condition

By Bev Barr BCC Editor

A vehicle hit Bandera County resident Ninon Truax Wednesday, Sept. 20, in the 2100 block of Polly Peak Road near Lasso Drive. Truax was airlifted by Air Evac Lifeteam to University Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
According to Chief Deputy Matt King of the Bandera County Sheriff’s office, Truax was walking along the road, as she did often, and a passersby noticed her down on the road, bleeding. The call to EMS dispatch was made at 9:54 a.m. and four deputies responded to the call.
According to a sheriff’s report, Truax was obviously injured: the side of her head, a bloody face, an injured left foot with bone protruding, and a large black rubber mark on her lower left leg, which appeared to be from a vehicle.
There were no witnesses to the hit and run accident. Trooper Schmidt, of the Department of Public Safety, is conducting the investigation.

Editor's note: At the time of printing, a relative arrived from Switzerland and Truax was removed from life support.
