A Thought for the Week

by John M Grimes

I had this "Thought" in the paper several years ago but want to share again as I think it is so important for us to remember:
Children today are faced with pressures and demands we adults sometimes either have forgotten and/or may have never known. They are Victims of peer pressures, broken homes, insecurities, identity crisis, society demands and much more. Parents and significant others must take time to listen to that God-given alarm bell when something is not quite right. Take time to listen to them, talk to them, and show interest in their activities and interests. Try to find times when you are not hurried or tense and can focus just on them . . .
"A child is a person who is going to carry on what you have started. He is going to sit where you are sitting, and when you are gone, attend to those things which you think are important. You may adopt all the policies you please, but how they are carried out depends on him. He will assume control of your cities, states, and nations. He is going to move in and take over your churches, schools, universities, and corporations. All you books are going to be judged, praised, or condemned by him. The fate of humanity is in his hands." - Abraham Lincoln
