A Thought for the Week

by John M Grimes

For me, every day is "Grandparents Day." But officially, September 10th is scheduled as "Grandparents Day." It has been said that approximately four million greeting cards are sent on this special Grandparents Day. This is especially a good time for grandchildren to show their love to their grandparents by sending a card, calling on the telephone but especially a visit would be awesome for them.
Grandparents Day was started for three purposes: The first one was to honor grandparents everywhere; the second was to give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children's children; and the third reason was to help children become aware of the strength, information, and guidance older people can offer.
What an honor it is to be a grandparent and one that I take very seriously-- it is a very big responsibility!
Of course, I am not bragging, but Hunter (17 and graduates high school this year), Walker (14), Austin (14) and last but certainly not least Carson (9) are the best grandsons and Susie and I feel very blessed to be their grandparents. And to all grandparents, we hope your day is filled with lots of love.
