Triple H Equitherapy Center seeks volunteers to help children, adults, veterans, and seniors with special needs who participate in equine assisted therapy programs. Triple H Equitherapy has served people with disabilities fro the last 22 years and provides therapeutic riding and ground (dismounted) programs that can meet the needs of individuals of almost any age or health condition.
“These volunteer opportunities are ideal for teenagers and adults who love horses and love spending time outdoors,” said Keisha Laughy, volunteer program director. “And best of all, volunteers experience the joy of helping children, adults, veterans, and seniors with special needs participate in programs that improve and enrich their lives.”
Two classes will be provided at the Triple H Equitherapy Center: one for side-walkers and another for horse handlers. Individuals are welcome to attend both trainings on the same day, Saturday, Sept. 9, at 791 Backhaus Road, in Pipe Creek.
Side Walkers help facilitate therapeutic horseback riding by keeping riders with disabilities safe. Trainees need the ability to walk for up to an hour and at times to hold arms at shoulder height. The class will be from 9 am to noon, Saturday, Sept. 9.
Horse Handlers’ primary responsibility is the horse. Some previous horse experience is required, and trainees need the ability to walk for an hour. The class will meet from 1 to 4 pm, Saturday, Sept. 9.
To register or for more information about services and volunteer opportunities, call Keisha at 830-510-9515; 210-900-0463; or send an email to keish@triple-h.org.
