Dam creates hardship at Twin Lakes

Contributed

Texas Commission on Environmental Quality ((TCEQ) requires that the damn at Twin Lakes subdivision be repaired, removed or breached and Beach Road is closed until the situation is rectified. According to County Judge Evans, who anticipated problems with the damn for about a decade, the developer is not able to acquire a permit to rebuild the damn. At this time, residents of the subdivision use a single lane private road with a 90-degree turn — Stevens Ranch Road. Residents are concerned about the ability of emergency service vehicles to get to the subdivision. The Commissioners Court discussed the situation in closed session at the last Commissioners Court meeting and found no legal way to interfere and fix the problem. Residents of Twin Lakes subdivision on Hwy 173 have been advised by legal council not to discuss details of a lawsuit with the subdivision’s developer.
