Safe Baby-Happy Baby: A no-cost program to fight child abuse

The Pregnancy Resource Center, thanks to a $5,000 grant from The Perry and Ruby Stevens Charitable Foundation, announces the availability of the Safe Baby – Happy Baby program to fight the cruel cycle of child abuse in the Texas Hill Country.
Safe Baby-Happy Baby is designed to prevent child abuse through parenting education. Many parents today come from dysfunctional homes, without good parenting role models. Safe Baby – Happy Baby gives all parents the tools they need to raise their children in a safe and nurturing environment.
Best of all, these classes are offered free of charge.
In fact, parents will actually be paid Baby Bucks for each class completed. Baby Bucks may be used to purchase strollers, car seats, cribs, diapers, clothing and other necessities for their children.
There are more than 200 professionally-produced classes in the program, and they are available to every parent regardless of income, age, race, nationality, religion or other arbitrary circumstances.
Child abuse is a disgrace in our country. The number of children affected is staggering and the problem is growing worse each year. In the U.S. in 2014, more than 6 million children came to the attention of child protective services, according to a Children’s Bureau report. Four children died from abuse every day that year. In Texas that same year, 65,000 cases of child abuse were reported by Children’s Advocacy Center. Statistics for the 30-county Hill Country Region are just as sobering, with 8,127 confirmed cases of child abuse.
The Perry and Ruby Stevens Charitable Foundation was established in 2006 to provide assistance to non-profit organizations in the Hill Country who carry out the primary interests of the founders, including caring for abused and neglected youth.
The Pregnancy Resource Center is focused on providing parenting resources to the community, enabling families to choose life and to develop healthy parenting skills.
