National Day of the American Cowboy celebration scheduled

Bandera, Texas, Cowboy Capital of the world is certainly the place to be on Saturday, July 22, for the celebration of the National Day of the American Cowboy. Friday night events begin with a Rodeo at Twin Elm Guest Ranch. Bring the whole family for a great event!
The National Day of the Cowboy, July 22, will take place on the historic Court House Lawn in the middle of Bandera at 500 Main Street, starting with a Cowboy Biscuit and Gravy breakfast at 9 am and special music by America’s Singing Cowboy, Steve Mitchell, well known for his Fiddle and Singing Shows in Branson, Missouri.
You just can’t miss this! Of course there will be gun fights by the famous Bandera Cattle Company at Rattle Snake Ridge, a small town near the back of the Court House Lawn. The celebrations will include a Little Wranglers Rodeo hosted by the Ridin the River Cowboy Church, Chicken Ropin, Story Telling, Fiddle playing, and select western vendors.
At 10 am, a dedication ceremony of the new Remington Statue at Heritage Park across from the Court House will take place. Beginning at 10:30 am, back at Rattle Snake Ridge, enjoy a special performance by the winner of the Academy of Western Artists 2017 Will Rodgers Western Music Award, Mikki Daniel, winner of the 2016 Female Performer of the Year! Can this girl Yodel? You bet!
At “High Noon” a special event, will be the induction of the Frontier Times Museum’s Texas Hero’s Hall of Honor, recognizing some wondrous characters that have helped make Texas, Texas!
What else can you expect? Poker games, horse shoe pitch, Chicken Ropin (?), cowboy dress up, stick horse races, a boot scramble, the Bandera Picker’s Circle, buggies, domino games, chuck wagons and Check out the toe tappin fiddle playing by Martin and Murray along with their Cowboy Poetry. Great food too!
On Saturday evening, mosey on down to Mansfield Park Rodeo Arena for the Ridin the River Cowboy Church Ranch Rodeo. Admission is $10 for adults and just $5 for kids. Gates open at 6 pm and Rodeo starts at 7:30 pm
