Bandera's Korean Veterans ... not forgotten

By Raymond V. Carter, Jr. BCHC Research Historian ©2017

Growing up in the 1950’s and 1960’s I heard a lot about World War II and of course I saw lots of World War II movies. I also knew of and was aware of the Korean War, but it seems not as much attention was given to that war as the big war, and with the escalation of the Vietnam conflict in the early 1960’s, the Korean War was often overlooked. I have often heard of it referred to as the “Forgotten War.”
The Korean War began June 25,1950, and became a stalemate on July 27, 1953 (never officially ending), taking the lives of nearly 37,000 American troops. I can assure you that the men and women who served in the Korean War are not forgotten.
I wish to recognize the Bandera County Servicemen who served in the Korean War.

We salute you men, we honor you, and we thank you for your service and sacrifice. May the Lord bless you all.
(I have listed all Korean Veterans that I can verify. My sincere appologies to anyone that I may have inadvertantly left out.)
